In 2006, HIN worked with Hawaii Family Services Support support group Tutus in Control to
assess the housing needs of grandparents raising grandchildren. What we found was a desire for recognition as primary caregivers
as well as tangible supports for these vital family units. Attached is the caregiver survey that prompted our involvement and
the Grandparent Bill of Rights legislation that was an outcome of a series of grandparent focus groups.
