On
behalf of Hawai`i Intergenerational Network (HIN), I welcome your
interest in our social network. As part of a developing field that
focuses attention on programs that mutually benefit young and old
persons together, HIN has become a recognized leader. Since
incorporating in 1996, we have initiated, developed, and evaluated
several programs that significantly support the needs of education
programs in our state.
Our future direction will continue to build on those successes
by creating partnerships between diverse community groups and
tapping into existing service systems. We also want to help other
organizations accomplish their missions by helping them team up
with youth groups or senior service people who can create tangible
benefits to the community and for the participants.
If you are looking for this kind of support or desire more information on being part of an intergenerational team we are glad you found us.
Aloha,
Chuck Larson

"Intergenerational activities are important because they are mutually beneficial for all persons involved. As we anticipate an aging population and diminishing social resources, we see seniors as a tremendous resource in providing support to a broad range of social needs. For older citizens, we also know that to stay healthy means to stay active and therefore, it benefits seniors to engage themselves in intergenerational activities.”
