NEW SCHOOL SIGNS ON TO FELLOWS
Want to have a FELLOWS program in your school? Over 100 senior volunteers are mentoring and tutoring students in over 20 elementary schools across the island of O'ahu.
A NEW VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY IN JAPAN!
Hawaii Intergenerational Network (HIN) in partnership with Ohana English Preschools (OEP) has launched a service opportunity for seniors. We are sending senior volunteers from Hawaii to Yokohama, Japan...

WHY HAWAI`I? Programs are designed with consideration of both our multi-cultural heritage and Hawaiian host culture to provide a unique set of services. Study tours include site visits to a shared site adult day care and childcare center, school-based programs, and senior residences.

Because intergenerational experiences are meant to link the legacy of one generation to the future of another, study tours in Hawai`i are based in the understanding that legacies survive when we care for our natural as well as our civic environment. Outdoor experiences and service trips are built in to the tour to facilitate learning by taking participants beyond their comfort zone and open them to new ways of working together. HIN has designed study tours with faculty and students from Jissen Women’s University. In 2007, look for new study tour opportunities through HIN's partnership with Travel & Learn LLC.

In 2003, HIN created Hui O’Hawai`i, an intergenerational youth leadership program. The purpose of the Hui was to help Hawaii’s youth to participate fully in the second World Congress of Youth held under the patronage of King Mohammed VI in Bouznika, Morocco. In August, youth and
adult mentors joined 1,000 young people (ages 15-25) from 145 nations to help set priorities and define action to achieve the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.

Hawaii Intergenerational Network (HIN) in partnership with Ohana English Preschools (OEP) has launched a service opportunity for seniors. We are sending senior volunteers from Hawaii to Yokohama, Japan to teach English to preschool children in the OEP schools child care program. Volunteers must be native English speakers, love working with children and be able commit to a three months stay. Click here for more information.
